Here it is… Post 300.
When I started this blog, I never set a goal for how much I would or even could write. I just set out to be the geek I am and tell stories, entertain, and inform as best I could.
So upon nearly reaching the nice round number of 300, I decided to put the call out to my readers, many of whom have become friends, to say something about either, myself, the blog, or the reaching of the 300th post milestone.
So, in their words, he is what they have to say. “300 posts. 65 more and you’ll have a year’s worth. Imagine if you wrote a post a day, you’d be up to 1.5 million posts. I think. I’m not good at math. Seriously, 300 long-form posts about cool stuff – that’s an achievement I couldn’t make. I expect a “Best Of” list soon! Excellent work, Agent Palmer!” “As a writer/blogger myself, I can appreciate the achievement of reaching 300 posts. While my own blog is only at 130, I can remember the pride at reaching 100. So multiply that pride by three and I imagine that’s what Jason aka Agent Palmer feels about this milestone. I have not had the opportunity to read a lot of his blog, some posts here and there. But what I have read, I have enjoyed. So keep up the good work Palmer, here’s to 300 more!” – @BadWolfBay87 of Gotham Lights Podcast “Agent Pamer? I swear my agent said Jeffrey Dahmer. Well, what can I say about Agent Palmer? No, seriously; I need words here! Um…as far as I know, Agent Palmer has never eaten anybody. He’s one of geekdoms most staunch supporters, a heck of a writer and well, just cute as a button. Not only is he a prolific writer AP, as he’s known in some circles, is also a serial ‘podcast guest’ with ties to many of the industries elite personalities. Three hundred blog posts! That’s a staggering number of words and hours devoted to you good reader. Congratulations Agent Palmer and thanks.” – @jlemesur “some guy” “In a internet full of mouth breathers and keyboard heroes it is very rare when you find a person who is genuine and thoughtful. I have had the absolute pleasure of getting to know Agent Palmer through podcasting and I promise you, there isn’t a better person to have on the side of good on the Internet and as a friend. Congratulations on your 300th post! Here’s to many more.” – @DavidMaier7 of Podcast Without Borders, “Agent Palmer’s blog, with every post, is aiming to light the heart of geekdom. Geekdom, while mysterious to some, has encouraged misfits to believe that even without comic books, we can be our own heroes. With this 300th post, you can be sure that with some humor and a lot of suave, Agent Palmer is carrying on this tradition of geek inclusion.” “In the world of Geekness, 300 can only mean two things… You’ve created one of the greatest action movies ever made, or you crushed the geek-blog benchmark of 300 posts. And today Agent Palmer, has accomplished one of these mighty feats. Congrats to Jason for all of his awesome posts, which I have read, shared and re-read many times. And if this was a comic series, he could reboot and start at #1 again to increase sales 🙂 Or just write another 300, which will be just as geek-awesome!” “Agent Palmer, first I want to congratulate you on the most excellent achievement of reaching 300 blog posts! I love your rotospectives and reviews (Jurassic World was a delight to read) – you have an amazing style about you, Sir, and it truly shines through this blog! Also, it’s been awesome getting to know you through podcasting – GeekDig, Inglorious Gents, and hearing your Stranger Conversations. Glad I could be here to see you reach 300 posts! May you reach 300 more, my friend! Cheers!” “I want to congratulate you on your 300th post. I enjoy the site very much. It’s well organized, and I enjoy the content on there. I like that your interests are varied. There are movie reviews, interrogations, comics, podcasts, and more. Our podcast, Moving the Needle, was even a June post. It was awesome to read about your experience, and you were extremely generous in plugging our show. It’s exciting to read about your adventures as you guest on more podcasts. I cannot wait to see what is on tap for 2016. I enjoy what I read, and I cannot wait for more. Congratulations on your accomplishment, Jason; and we’ll get you back on Moving the Needle soon!” “300. Whoa that’s a lot of something. I’m glad I could play a small part in helping you get there. Here’s to 300 more- I’m sure your desk will be a lot messier by then ;)” “To be completely honest, Agent Palmer is ruining the curve for the rest of us. I mean, have you seen the amount of content he posts on his blog? Seriously, cut it out! And if that wasn’t enough, he live tweets several podcast episodes and frequently participates in hashtag chats on Twitter! Typical over achiever. What mortal on this planet and known dimension has that much time to do all that?! Has anyone actually met Agent Palmer in person? I’m pretty sure he’s cracked the code to time-traveling. Or perhaps he can clone himself like Michael Keaton in Multiplicity or Agent Smith of Matrix fame? ……I may have said too much. But even if there was just one Agent Palmer (that we know of), he must listen to podcasts, binge watch the entire filmography of some obscure director and write a spoiler free book review SIMULTANEOUSLY. That’s the only possible way he’s able to do what he does. Or maybe that’s just what I tell myself to feel better about my slacker tendencies. In truth, you’d be hard pressed to find a better wealth of “all things geek” knowledge or a more dedicated fan than Agent Palmer. In that sense, I’m extremely grateful that there is at least one of him in the world doing the legwork for the rest of us. You could turn it down a little, though. Quit making us look bad.” – @janaya241 the GIF Pimp “Managed to reach three hundred without airbrushing pecs, greasing up and incorporating a dark, highly stylized form of Stop-Start animation to support what is essentially clever romantic comedy about ancient Greeks stomping Arabs. Though compelling as fuck, technically unrelated to blogging…” “No one embraces the depths of GEEKDOM like Agent Palmer. It’s been a great pleasure to watch the site grow and get more nuanced in its approach to unearthing and spotlighting the hidden gems of the fandom world.” “An amazing blog written by an amazing person. Agent Palmer’s blog is engaging, fun, informative, and most of all, respectful to the reader. This blog isn’t written to tell you how to feel, it allows you to make up your own mind. Of course Agent Palmer shares his opinions and musings, but it’s done in an inviting way. He wants you to be part of the conversation. Reaching 300 blog posts is a testament to his commitment, and enjoyment, in what he writes about. I look forward to what the future brings, not only to Agent Palmer, but also to us, his readers and fans! Congrats, Sir! Cheers to you and your success!!” “300 Posts!? From Books to Video Games, Movies and even Podcasts, Agent Palmer covers it all. This site has a unique voice and Palmer proves he’s a dyed in the wool bonafide geek! I love his honest and fun take on all things pop culture. No evil geek troll here. Now if I could just get him on the Monkey Poo Studios payroll!” – @s7evendaysageek of 7 Days A Geek, “Time has proven him wise, for from free citizen to free citizen the word was spread that bold Palmer and his 300, so far from home, laid down their freedom of speech, not just for Twitter, but for all the world and the promise this country holds.” – @idahenno of Moving The Needle, “Agent Palmer has truly been committed to consistently providing great posts. Or perhaps he should be committed? After 300 posts I’m sure the guy is a little loopy.” “It’s hard to believe that you’ve hit 300 posts. As the editor who reads many of these before they publish, it’s even more difficult to believe that you’re just now hitting 300. Are you sure you haven’t miscalculated or dropped a zero or two in your final tally? You know you’re supposed to carry over ALL of the ones, right? Either way, I’ll presume that luxurious check full of never-going-to-go-bad Bitcoin money is in the mail.” When I was asked to write a few brief words regarding AgentPalmer.com and it’s curator Agent Palmer, I struggled with the finding the right words and/or the right way to properly describe him. “Brief” is not my strong suit, but then again, if you’ve ever read an AgentPalmer blog post, “brief” isn’t even in his wheelhouse. But, I’ll give it a go anyway… Palmer is best described as dedicated, determined, detailed, and driven in all he decides to do. Whatever that may be. If he decides to do it, it’s getting done. Laser focus. End of story. Restraining orders, police tape, begging to stop… All just hurdles for him, of which he easily jumps in single strides. Palmer has never heard a “no” he couldn’t ignore. Loyal to a fault, Palmer’s like a stray dog given love for the first time. If you pet him, he’ll follow you home and be your best friend. Forever. No questions asked. Even if you smack him with a rolled up newspaper on the nose! Which, if we lived in the same city, I’m sure I would have done by now. I’m also confident he’d still be there, by the door, waiting for me when I got home. A bearded and bespectacled gingery Sherlock, he questions everything in the pursuit of learning and gaining a greater understanding of the world around him and the people that populate it. What are their hopes and dreams?! What do they do?! Why do they do it?! HOW do they do it?! Can he do it?! Who did it first?! Are midichlorians real?! Can I have some?! Are you available to chat?! Can you take a call?! Did you know…?! When can I come on your podcast?! You don’t podcast?! Have you ever thought about podcasting?! Do you know how many times I have been a podcast guest?! The list goes on. And on. And on. And then on a little longer. And just when you think he’s done, he’s not. So many questions, so many damn questions. Although a grown man, his personality and writing style still holds a child like wonder and sense of purpose many lose or leave behind as the days and years pass, and the responsibilities of life pile on. His imagination and belief in the impossible never wavering or wandering. I mean, here’s a guy who still thinks Darth Vader could beat Batman in a fight! Will the wonders of his imagination and fantasy creations ever cease?! No. No they will not. They haven’t in 300 blog posts, and from what I’ve been told, there’s an easy 300 more in the tank to keep it going. And while we, the people in his social circle, spend countless hours teasing him for his OCD, his Lois Lane dogged style reporting, his incessant need for attention and adulation, and his aforementioned gingery beard, the truth is, we love him. I love him. He is in fact, a friend of the highest caliber. Available at moments notice, well meaning, kindhearted, intelligent, compassionate, empowering, and supportive. Incredibly supportive. Well, except for that $20 he never spent on my podcast shirts. Which to be fair to him, at this point, are moving more towards being rare collectors items for a defunct podcast than not. So add foresight to those positive traits of his. But I digress… I would tell you all I am honored to call him my friend and a confidant. But the truth is, I am more honored Agent Palmer considers ME a friend. I’m the lucky one. The time, dedication, and effort he puts into maintaining our comradery and friendship, picking me up when I’m down, making me laugh, and inspiring me into creative pathways, though states apart, is truly appreciated. In fact, it parallels the way he treats his blog stories, guests, and his podcast appearances. Sincere and genuine. Thoughtful and with respect. If this guy is an asshole, I’ve yet to see it. But with all the shit and razzing he puts up with from me, and the rest of our little social circle Scooby Gang, if he did choose to jerk up every now and again, I’d gladly grant him the room. Congrats on 300 my friend! Well done. Sincerely, – @Insta_Grants2 and @TheStrangerCons
