Field Report: Infiltration of the Philly Non-Sports Card Show in Allentown

Philly Non-Sports Card Show in Allentown

Recently, I attended the Philly Non-Sports Card Show. I didn’t quite know what to expect. I had been to “CCG” shows, but they’re universally labelled as such. So I headed out, having very little idea of what might be in store for me.

When I arrived there was a line of about 100 people waiting to get in. It wasn’t quite a comic con crowd, but there were some characters, an equal mix of genders and a very wide range of ages.

Now before I explain what I saw at the show, let me explain all I know about Non-Sports Cards.

The Newsroom… Welcome back Mr. Sorkin

Aaron Sorkin Newsroom on HBO

I finally found the time to watch Aaron Sorkin’s new show, “The Newsroom.” I should have found the time sooner. It reminds me of the first few seasons of West Wing, fast paced, witty and extremely well written. It Mr. Sorkin doing what he does best.

The critical reviews have been somewhat mixed, but I can’t see why. Is it because this show isn’t on NBC? Is it because they expected him to change the formula for HBO?

Dr. Gregory House, M.D. ~ May he live in peace

Dr. Gregory House MD

The final episode of House was preceded by a very beautiful retrospective. The final episode of House was the culmination of eight seasons. The final episode of House was a nice end to a great series. The final episode of House was a fitting tribute to an extraordinary character. I won’t get the chance to miss Dr. House, he’s in syndication and in that respect, the character and the show will continue to live on.

Dr. Gregory House, was a brilliant character.

Casey Jones: Don’t Call it a Comeback!

Casey Jones Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cartoon

With all the talk on the internet these days about Michael Bay and the way he’s handling the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot, it was great to see Casey Jones The Movie. A fan film from filmmaker Polaris Banks. The film is only 35 minutes long, but it’s beautifully done.

The thing that strikes me most about this film is accuracy.
