Top 10 Great Voices in Baseball: Part One

In the annals of baseball history there are great players and teams. There are championships, records, amazing plays and dramatic innings. But the guys that bring them to life with their voice, through our televisions and radios are just as important. This is the beginning of my top 10 great voices of baseball list.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am a fan of the Baltimore Orioles but that doesn’t define my baseball fandom. I am a fan of the game.

IndyCar could learn something from NASCAR a.k.a Don’t finish the race under yellow!

Yesterday, The Greatest Spectacle in Racing, the Indianapolis 500 ended under caution. I repeat, it ended under a yellow flag! Thus race winner Tony Kanaan followed the pace car for the final two laps to take the checkered flag. This is legal as it follows the current IndyCar rules, it’s just not good for the sport. Hello, is any one there? This is racing isn’t it?

Sports in Depth: The State of MLS as Beckham leaves as a Champion, Again.

David Beckham has gone out on top, again. He is leaving Major League Soccer in 2012 as a Champion with the LA Galaxy, as he did previously when he left Spanish La Liga with his Real Madrid taking the crown and before that when he left the Premier League’s Manchester United who also took the crown in his last season in 2003. The man knows how to go out on top.

And this season didn’t start with any inclination that he would be able to 3-peat his Title Crowned exits.

Defining “Inning”: A declassification of the word (Using Baseball terms in Football)

A Football Inning

Yesterday in the Ohio State v. Wisconsin football game, the head referee, in his explanation of overtime, described it as innings. It was one of the simplest and shortest explanations of overtime in college football I’ve ever witnessed.

We know that in college football’s overtime rules each team gets to play offense and defense at least once, so it is very easy to comprehend them as innings. But where does the word innings come from?

A Recap and My Top 5 Non-Doping Moments from the 2012 Tour de France

The 99th Tour de France completed it’s 3,496.9 km journey through Belgium, Switzerland and France, today. History was made with British rider Bradley Wiggins of Team Sky taking the final maillot jaune (yellow jersey) being the first of his country to do so, his teammate Chris Froome joined him 2nd on the podium, also a first. Another teammate of Wiggins, Mark Cavendish, also made history with his fourth straight victory on the Champs-Élysées.
