I had not read Young Adult fiction for a very long time, before Cadets showed up in the mail, as a gift from author Edward Miller. It wasn’t that I have anything against YA fiction, it’s just that I don’t tend to think of myself as a young adult anymore, though I don’t really think of myself as a grown up either, even with the responsibilities of homeownership and a career.

In 1982, two years before Charles in Charge teamed up Scott Baio and Willie Aames, they were together in Zapped!, a cheesy 80’s science fiction romp if ever there was one.
It had everything a teen 80’s movie required: a heartthrob as the lead character Barney Springboro played by Baio, a best friend played by Willie Aames, high school drama, your standard teen angst, a crazy old wise-cracking character in Scatman Crothers as Dexter Jones, a standard Eddie Deezen playing a geek character, your typical 80’s tunes and, well, lots and lots of boobs.

Sports are universally beloved. Geographically, the athletic competitions take on various forms; the NFL, NBA, MLB are strong in America; NHL in Canada; Premier League in Europe; and Cricket in India.
But the now legendary George R. R. Martin wrote about the downfall of them all in “The Last Superbowl,” a fantastically written short story in February 1975’s issue of Gallery Magazine, a men’s magazine.

The interrogation of J.B. “Jerry” Manas is fascinating for anyone who has an inclination towards writing, although the concepts and advice wound through this can apply to subjects much broader than just writing. Usually, subjects of my interrogations are pliable, but it took this co-author of The Kronos Interference a little while to open up, and when he did… it wasn’t Intel we found inside, it was wisdom.

I met Edward Miller at The Great Allentown Comic Con and he convinced me to pick up a copy of The Kronos Interference, penned by himself and co-author J.B. Manas. The copy was promptly signed and I read it. It was brilliant and I just had to get to know the the authors individually.
